did homelander really assault becca

Did Homelander Really Assault Becca - This fourth episode is like a new season premiere because we're pretty much starting from the beginning, and all of our heroes and villains are in new emotional places. This episode shows us once again that this second season of the show is more about giving our characters an emotional arc than giving the audience some social commentary like the first one.

There are three main emotional storylines that take place in this episode. First, we have the heart of the show – Butcher learning that he needs to let Becca go because their relationship has now completely changed and there's no turning back. She doesn't accept the child, she doesn't really see it as an enemy, but almost, and Becca doesn't leave her child because she sees what it will become.

We also tackled a question that I don't think was answered in the first season: Did Comrade rape Becky or was their date actually consensual? I know it sounds sacrilegious to talk about our hero's wife, but let's face it, this man is like a god (literally).

The Boys: Why The Third Season Will Skip The Controversial Homelander Scene With Soldier Boy?

Conflicts like Butcher and Becca's intertwining are some of the things that make this show so great - there's no easy answer, although I don't think the door is closed, but Butcher might end up accepting the kid somehow and I think it's great that we're here today. It's going to be a fun game for him now to learn to let go and shut down for a while.

Another great emotional arc is a totally not-they-are thing between Hughie and Annie, and this episode kicks off a beautiful scene between Patriot and Star. I say great, not because she choked it, but because both her performance and this scene showed us that Starlight is a whole new character who can hold her own. Obviously, we're supposed to see her and Hughie in bed together, and then circumstances force them to separate again.

I have a feeling this dilemma will resolve itself more easily than Becca and the Butchers, and Starlight will join the boys sooner rather than later. After all, he's already traveled with them and gotten pretty close to M.M., so this is clearly a bigger setup. Plus, their goodbye didn't feel like goodbye at the end.

Speaking of road trips, and pretending to be a Segway, I love how the show suddenly became a mystery, and our heroes check out the 70s SUP Freedom, which might be Seven, the newest addition to the Hurricane. We still don't know how that's possible, but I'm curious if Freedom has the same powers as Hurricane, or if it's evolved over time. The scene where the lady and the boys talk about Liberty also answered another question I had from the previous episode: Why did Liberty attack the family in the house she attacked? Obviously, because he's black, he's kind of racist.

Burning Questions For Amazon Prime's The Boys Season 2

As we head into our final journey, we get another iteration of this season's battle. Homelander. He's gotten a few points lately and started a revolution against Vought, which, by the way, makes me ask a lot of questions: How come Vought didn't say something about this? Why does no one suspect that the new face of the company is the face of the company's rivals? And most importantly, what's his last name? Is it just to get a seat at the center of the table in Vought's facility, or does it want something more? Was he sent by someone to keep him from aging all these years, or is he really alone? We must meet.

But for now, he's managed to take down Homelander, and our superhuman alter ego is now questioning everything, including who he is and whether he's been worshiping like himself lately. Even though it feels like a moment of abandonment for her, I think Maeve learning and learning to accept her relationship with Elena (I think she is) is key in this phase of her acceptance of herself and her loneliness. Sometimes I feel like the show gave us the best superhero stories ever to hit the screen in real-time by showing us what would happen if Superman vs. Superman went head-to-head.

Like I said before, this season is going to give us a lot of emotional arcs for our characters, and I hope they don't let themselves melt down. We'll have to wait a week now to see what happens next.

But he's also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only thing, because authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been obsessed with it since they started to understand the language of filmmaking. He's a black guy who only watches black and white movies, and we find out that William Butcher (Karl Orbán) is pretty stereotypically out to get revenge on his "superhero" hometown (Anthony Starr). Butcher believes Homelander raped and killed his wife, Becca (Shantel VanSanten). It was revealed in the season finale that it was only half true that Becca was raped, but eventually gave birth to a son by the Patriots and was fired by Vought.

Since that revelation, Becca has pretty much existed in the same place as "The Dead," especially after the Season 2 finale, which was very disappointing.

While rescuing her son Ryan from the clutches of a truly terrifying Patriot and Nazi Rhinoceros, Becca confronts the other side and is nearly killed by the latter. Then, to protect his mother, Ryan releases an eyeball that cuts through the storm, but indirectly slits Beck's neck.

While he's covered in blood, Beck begs Butcher to keep his promise to protect Ryan, telling him it's not his fault. After years of searching, the woman the Butcher loved is dead, Ryan is traumatized by the murder of his now beloved mother, and Beca ends up in a super freezer. It makes me uncomfortable.

Amazon's The Boys Sets Up For Season 2 With One Big Change

In the first season, the number of dead girlfriends we had was with Robin, who was run over by a train at the beginning of the show. Popclaw was killed by a train for hiding his junk. Killed by Homelander to prove that she wasn't controlled by her mother's issues, Mallory finally turned Becca, the butcher who was supposed to be her death, into the person she was.

Most of these women end up in the awkward group of women in the freezer, many of whom died helplessly in circumstances that had nothing to do with their autonomy, only to be used to advance the men's narrative. Even with Kimiko and her brother's setbacks, she serves a larger narrative purpose than just being her brother as a hooded "superterrorist" who helps Woft sell more Compound V.

I was glad to see that Becca was still alive, but it soon became clear that she only had two roles: the butcher's wife and Ryan's mother.

Beca is taken along with Ryan to find out if she grows up with her mother like in her hometown, she won't turn bad. That's why Becca exists, and this moral loophole that binds Ryan and Butcher. Although we know that his sister and family are left, nothing is left of him. In the third season, they may decide that their grandparents are as good as their mother.

Questions 'the Boys' Season 2 Needs To Answer

A lot. It surprised me in so many ways that even though a lot of busy and weird characters jumped out of the story, I was totally into it. However, I found Becca's writing style to be dazzling. When his injury was shown, I was like, "Ugh, I don't like that."

It just feels so good for a show that's worked so hard to revolutionize. He manages to do a little more than expected for each character, even the "depth". But with Becca, I saw the epitome of the sex-light trope, and now, with her death, she can.
